Who is Billerica United?

A group of Billerica residents who are tired of having this fight with Anti-Choice activists in our town. We reject the idea of government interference in a person's bodily autonomy. Billerica has always fought against government overreach and we continue our long tradition of rejecting tyranny.

Can we fly the pro-choice flag in response?

No. The Select Board has chosen to adopt a new policy which would restrict expression by residents of Billerica. No flags will be allowed unless explicitly stated in the flag policy.

What is the proposed flag policy?

This policy is likely to be enacted on January 1, 2024.     


Introduction: 
This policy is intended to address flags allowed to be flown on Town of Billerica flagpoles. 
Flags allowed to be flown: 
The Select Board authorize the following flags to be flown on Town-owned flagpoles as an expression of the Town’s government speech: 

  • The official flag of the United States of America

  • The official flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

  • The official flag of the Town of Billerica

  • The official flags of the various branches of military services of the United States of America

  • The official MIA-POW flag

No other flags shall be allowed to be flown on Town-owned flagpoles and this policy are not intended to establish or serve to create a forum for private expression
